Editorial Policy
The standards we hold ourselves to — independence, honesty, corrections, and the lines we won't cross.
Independence
Our recommendations are ours. No brand pays for inclusion, ranking, or a favorable verdict, and no advertiser reviews our content before it publishes. We earn commissions on some links (see our affiliate disclosure), but commission never decides a pick — when a cheaper or better-for-you option wins, that is the pick.
How we choose what to recommend
We select products that are real, currently sold, and relevant to the concealment problem a page is about. We then compare them using the published method on our How We Review page: compile manufacturer specs, do the buyer-relevant math, cross-check owner-reported issues, and rank on fit rather than on price or commission.
The lines we don’t cross
- No fabricated testing. We do not claim to have field-tested, owned, or lab-tested gear we haven’t. Where we express experience, it is clearly framed as opinion or as aggregated, attributed owner reports — never as our own testing.
- No fabricated reviews or ratings. There are no invented testimonials, star ratings, review counts, or “before/after” claims anywhere on this site.
- No invented credentials. We don’t claim degrees, licenses, guiding tenure, or an “expert panel” we don’t have. We’re enthusiasts who read the specs and cite our sources.
- No guessed numbers.Specs come from the source or are marked “Not published.” Prices come from the live layer or show “Check price.” We never fill a gap with a guess.
Sourcing & citations
Factual claims are cited to primary sources — wildlife agencies, university research, peer-reviewed studies, or manufacturer safety documentation. Each roundup and guide ends with a Sources list. If a claim can’t be sourced, we either present it clearly as general knowledge or we leave it out.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do we fix them. If you flag a factual error through our contact page, we check it against the source and, if you’re right, correct the page and note that a correction was made. Accuracy beats saving face.
Freshness & updates
Every roundup and guide carries a real “last updated” date. We refresh prices continuously, re-evaluate roundups when major new models launch or specs change, and sweep our content periodically for stale information. We don’t fake a current-year date on content we haven’t actually revisited.
Safety
Where gear carries real risk — propane heaters and carbon monoxide, tree-stand and saddle falls — we lead with the safety facts and cite them, rather than burying them beneath the sales pitch. Nothing on this site is professional, medical, or legal advice; always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and your local regulations.
