What historically goes on sale — and what rarely does

Everything in this section is dated 2025 history from the pages listed under Sources. It is a record, not a forecast: the fact that a brand ran a sale last year says nothing certain about this year.

Reliably on sale: saddles, platforms, sticks and stands

This is the strongest record in our lane. Outdoor Life’s Black Friday 2025 roundup of treestands, blinds and climbing sticks listed saddle deals from $49 to $190 off (the Trophyline Specter Venatic at $190 off was the largest), climbing-stick sets from $34 to $120 off, and stands and platforms from $30 to $200 off. Tethrd ran its own Black Friday 2025 collection with “SAVE 15% ON STARTER KITS” as the headline and accessory kits and ropes marked down against their regular prices. Latitude Outdoors and Trophyline appeared in the same roundups. If you are buying a saddle, platform or sticks as a gift, this is the category most worth waiting on.

Reliably on sale: hunting clothing and heated apparel

Clothing carried the biggest dollar figures in Outdoor Life’s general 2025 hunting-gear roundup — a Kings Camo Lone Peak jacket at $115 off and a First Lite Core jacket at $180 off — and a 2025 retailer list recorded Sitka at “25-50% off” and KUIU at “save up to 50%.” Heated apparel was covered specifically: Popular Science reported ORORO heated gear at “their lowest prices of the year” during Amazon’s 2025 Black Friday Week, with a heated vest at $109.99 against a $169.99 regular price. The pattern to know: the deepest clothing cuts land on prior-season colors and sizes, and popular sizes go first. Our camo and heated vest comparisons carry the live price on every pick.

Reliably on sale: scent-control clothing

ScentLok maintains a Black Friday Specials page with deep markdowns on select apparel — a BE:1 Reactor heated vest at $79.99 against a $199.99 regular price and a Stealth Jacket at $99.99 against $199.99 when we fetched it — and both ScentLok and Blocker Outdoors were listed among brands running 2025 Black Friday sales. These are closeout-style cuts on specific items, not sitewide percentages, so sizing is the thing to check. On sale with a catch: crossbows

Crossbow discounts were real in 2025 — a Wicked Ridge at $300 off at Cabela’s in the Outdoor Life roundup — but the headline-grabbing cuts were on reconditioned units. Ravin’s own Black Friday 2025 promotions page offered Certified Reconditioned R500-series bows “while supplies last,” for example an R500 at $1,499.99 against a $3,099.99 regular price, rather than discounts on new current-year bows. If a reconditioned or last-year model is acceptable, November is worth waiting for; if it has to be new and current, the record is thinner. Small discounts: ground blinds

Blinds are the surprise. In the same Outdoor Life treestand-and-blind roundup that listed $190-off saddles, the three ground blinds ran $10, $24 and $36 off. That is a pattern worth knowing before you hold off buying a ground blind in October to save a few dollars in November.

No record found: heaters, harnesses, consumables

Propane blind heaters, fall-arrest harnesses and lifelines, scent sprays and soaps, hand warmers and seat cushions did not appear in either 2025 Outdoor Life roundup or on the brand pages we checked (the one exception in the safety lane: Tethrd marked a saddle rope down from $29.99 to $20.99 in its own collection). That is not the same as “never discounted” — a Portable Buddy moves in price through the year, and our daily check catches it when it does — but it means we found nothing to justify waiting. For safety gear the advice is stronger than that: buy the harness now. Most tree-stand fall victims were not attached to the tree, and no sale is worth a season of climbing without one.

• Dated, always. The status box at the top of this page carries the date of the last update, so you never have to guess whether a listed deal is current.
